The chair of Numerical Mathematics for High-Performance Computing at the Institute for Applied Mathematics and Numerical Simulation searches for a Ph.D. candidate (or postdoc) to run a project on the a posteriori error estimation of nonlinear eigenvalue problems arising in Density-Functional Theory (DFT) of electronic structure calculation. The developed methods and estimators will be implemented and tested in the open-source DFTK software package, written in Julia.
Your profile
Excellent Msc (or PhD) degree in applied mathematics.
Specialization in applied mathematics and numerical analysis.
Strong interests in application to electronic structure calculation.
Interest and skills in the implementation of numerical methods.
